Repairing the Grandis Carousel in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Throughout The Continent in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, there are numerous hidden secrets waiting to be uncovered, and a detailed exploration of the area can yield significant rewards for your team. Beyond the major attractions, various concealed riches lie buried in the wilderness, often overlooked by many adventurers.

One notable hidden gem in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is The Carousel. If you are uncertain about how to locate it or complete the associated side quest, this guide will provide all the necessary details.

The Carousel is a distinctive location you can first access during Act 2 of the game, but you must visit Monoco’s Station to reach it. After completing the initial tasks at Monoco’s Station (where you will acquire another party member with unique abilities), you will unlock three different pathways leading to other key destinations.

To find The Carousel, take the east exit from Monoco’s Station. From there, journey across the snow-covered plains towards the northeast and stay close to the cliff on the left until you stumble upon a structure resembling a carousel, partially concealed by snow. When you get close, you will see an option to enter ‘The Carousel.’

Additionally, you can locate the entrance to the Frozen Hearts site nearby, which contains the Eternal Ice key item. However, be mindful that this area poses significant threats, so ensure you are well-prepared and sufficiently leveled before venturing in.

Upon entering The Carousel region, consider resting at the Expedition Flag (and locating the Le Grand Café de Lumière music record in the alley on your left). Next, engage with the Grandis positioned to the left of a frozen carousel.

The Grandis will express their desire to see the carousel spinning once more, as it did before the Fracture, and task you with freeing it from the ice.

You have several options for repairing the carousel, with one method being significantly less time-intensive. Firstly, you could obtain the Paint Break ability by rescuing at least four of the nine Lost Gestrals scattered around The Continent and then consulting Sastro back at Gestral Village. This ability allows you to destroy the blue paint spike formations throughout various locations and break the ice encasing the carousel.

Alternatively, a simpler method to restore the carousel is to utilize your Strike ability on the icicles (the same ability used to execute First Strikes in battles). This approach is effective as well; once you eliminate all icicles on the carousel, it will rotate and play music.

Afterward, return to the Grandis, who will reminisce about a girl from the past, recalling only her hair. As a gesture of nostalgia, he will reward you with the French Bob Haircut (Maelle). Before leaving, feel free to explore the area further, where you can also discover a Colour of Lumina item hidden at the back.
