Defeating Trobbio in Silksong: A Comprehensive Boss Guide

Located deeper in Act 2, Trobbio is a formidable boss who was hinted at in several trailers for Silksong. He resides in The Stage, an area within the Choral Chambers of the Citadel, but reaching this vibrant boss encounter requires navigating through a longer route.

To overcome Trobbio, players of Silksong need to learn to read his flashy attacks, dodge his explosive projectiles, and recognize the opportune moments to strike. This guide provides detailed instructions on unlocking Trobbio’s chamber, strategies for defeating him, and the rewards for conquering this optional boss.

Where to Find Trobbio in Silksong

Above the Grand Bellway, Accessible via Whispering Vaults

To confront Trobbio, players must reach the locked Stage Door above the Grand Bellway and activate a lever. This involves defeating the Clockwork Dancers, descending into the Cogwork Core, and navigating through the Whispering Vaults to find the entrance to The Stage.

Once at The Stage, jump into the rafters and descend to activate the golden lever. This will create a shortcut back to the Choral Chambers, allowing you to save your progress before the boss fight.

Strategies to Defeat Trobbio in Silksong

Trobbio’s Attacks, Moveset, and Counters

Attack Image

Attack Name

Visual Indicators

Counter

Tornado Spin

Trobbio will dash backward and spin like a tornado, charging through the arena and bouncing off walls. After bouncing, he creates two whirlwinds that move outward.

Jump over Trobbio as he charges, positioning yourself above him when he comes to a stop. This is a prime time to land pogo hits, especially with the Wanderer’s Crest equipped. Strike him before and after he bounces, and continue to pogo when the whirlwinds appear.

Fly

Trobbio ascends into the air, traversing the arena and potentially executing airborne attacks.

When he flies, move beneath him, then jump and strike upwards to deal damage, being sure to dodge when he comes back down.

Firework Explosions

Trobbio crouches and leaps, causing a massive explosion of red sparks that encompasses the arena. Expect several firework explosions around the battlefield.

Observe the indicators where fireworks will detonate and evade accordingly. If Trobbio is not surrounded by fireworks, seize this chance to attack.

Tunnel Under

Trobbio dives beneath the stage, shifting underground and causing tiles to lift.

Track Trobbio’s direction by observing the stage tiles. As he emerges through a trapdoor, close in to land damage or to hit away the incoming projectiles.

Walls of Fireworks

Trobbio shouts his name as he vanishes, unleashing walls of fireworks across the battlefield.

Anticipate the appearance of the fireworks walls and evade into the safe spaces between them.

Triple Explosives

Trobbio may launch three explosive projectiles, which can explode either vertically or horizontally.

Avoid the projectiles, and stay clear of the direction the fireworks explosions will occur as they detonate.

Triple Explosives (Underground)

This attack mirrors the former but occurs when Trobbio is underground, throwing projectiles instead of leaping out from the trapdoor.

<pDodge the projectiles as before, and step away from the explosive lines emerging from each bomb.

Trobbio Boss Strategies & Tips

  • Be mindful of the locations where the fireworks will detonate, whether from explosive projectiles or walls that may emerge when Trobbio dives underground; it’s easy to get trapped by the explosive surroundings created by these projectiles.
  • All of Trobbio’s actions deal two Masks of damage, but making contact with Trobbio itself only equals one Mask of damage. If you anticipate an explosive attack, consider dodging into Trobbio just before the explosion or strike lands.
    • The brief invulnerability after receiving one Mask of damage will prevent additional harm from the explosion.
    • Avoid dodging into Trobbio while he is tornadoing back and forth, and refrain from attempting a parry–there won’t be sufficient i-frames to avoid taking damage during that attack.
  • Consider using tools like the Sting Shard and Curveclaw. The
    Sting Shard
can repeatedly inflict damage on Trobbio if he flies into it, while the
    Curveclaw
allows for sustained DPS during aerial attacks on Trobbio.
  • It’s possible to interact with the explosive projectiles by striking them with your Needle. Position yourself near where the trapdoor will open when Trobbio is underground, and time your attacks just as he emerges to hit the projectiles away to the other side of the arena, enhancing survivability.

Rewards for Defeating Trobbio in Silksong

Upon delivering the final blow to Trobbio, he will exit the scene dramatically rather than simply dying. Amid a burst of fireworks, he will bow, dance, express gratitude to the audience, kneel, and raise his arms as more fireworks light up the background.

Initially appearing to vanish, he will instead explode in a harmless red blast and drop an item on the ground.

Upon his defeat, Trobbio will drop the Claw Mirror Tool. This blue tool, known as «the theatrical tool of a proud insect,» generates dazzling light that damages foes whenever Hornet uses the Bind skill for healing. While it’s a powerful asset, it won’t prevent adversaries from breaking through the damaging aura to attack Hornet and disrupt the healing process.

More importantly, defeating Trobbio unlocks a shortcut to the Whispering Vaults and the right side of the Underworks. This is beneficial for retracing steps to complete tasks in Act 2, as players won’t need to traverse to the top of the Whispering Vaults (via the Songclave shortcut) to access the needed locations in this essential Act 2 area.
