Top Crossplay Titles Available on Xbox Game Pass

While it hasn’t become a universal standard yet, crossplay is increasingly prominent in the gaming world. Today, cross-platform titles are more common, as these games benefit from larger, combined player communities. Uniting players rather than segregating them can enhance longevity for any gaming project.

One of the standout offerings in the gaming landscape, Xbox Game Pass boasts a richly varied catalog that fulfills a wide range of gaming styles and preferences. Although it doesn’t always receive substantial advertising, Microsoft’s subscription service features several crossplay options. So, which are the top crossplay games available on Game Pass?

Updated on May 4, 2025: Recent weeks have seen the addition of a few crossplay titles on Game Pass, although they may not require a dedicated mention. Here’s a quick rundown:

  • Towerborne went live in Game Preview on April 29, facilitating crossplay between Xbox and PC users.
  • Modern Warfare II (2022) may not be the franchise’s most acclaimed entry, but it supports full crossplay and might be worth sampling for those who missed it initially.

The upcoming title Revenge of the Savage Planet is set for release on May 8, 2025 and will also feature crossplay capabilities. This sequel to Journey to the Savage Planet introduces a new gameplay perspective, swapping the original first-person view for a third-person camera. Players will traverse four distinct planets in pursuit of vengeance against the corporation that betrayed them.

33 Immortals

Survive Hell With Friends And Strangers

Currently in early access/game preview, 33 Immortals is still under development but already offers a compelling experience that showcases the core mechanics of this roguelite. One of the most interesting co-op games in recent memory, Thunder Lotus’s project fulfills its title’s promise of 33-player multiplayer. However, it doesn’t mean players will be battling alongside 32 others at all times; such scenarios are uncommon.

As players spend time in the Dark Forest, which serves as the hub, they are dropped into a vast map, encouraged to explore, vanquish monsters, collect resources, tackle Torture Chambers, and ultimately take on the primary bosses. Most players will split into smaller squads to maximize their exploration efforts, especially since specific challenges apply restrictions. 33 Immortals highlights the need for intelligent teamwork, even when players spread out across various terrains; everyone is still striving towards a common goal.

In terms of gameplay, 33 Immortals is reminiscent of Hades, featuring fast-paced isometric action and stylish combat. As a roguelite, players continuously upgrade their skills during a run, and long-term progress is linked to the Feat Level. There are plenty of weapons available, although players are generally advised to specialize in one for maximum effectiveness.

33 Immortals is exclusively available on Xbox and the Epic Games Store.

Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition

A Co-Op Blast With Some Drawbacks

With Borderlands 4 anticipated for release later in 2025, early previews have received mixed feedback. However, this upcoming installment is likely to be one of the year’s top cooperative releases, as well as a promising single-player FPS experience. Despite the franchise’s mixed reviews, Borderlands has been consistently strong, especially within the looter shooter genre.

At this point, many players likely have set opinions on the series. Nevertheless, newcomers can dive into Borderlands 3 through Game Pass. Despite its narrative and characters, the 2019 release features some of the best gameplay in the series. Players assume the roles of Vault Hunters, aiding the Crimson Raiders on Pandora. Each of the four character classes has distinct abilities and three skill trees, allowing for a wide range of builds–whether playing solo or cooperatively, players can experiment with different characters.

Game Pass also offers the Ultimate Edition, which includes all DLC campaigns, often considered superior to the base story. Although the game’s writing is scrutinized, Borderlands 3 remains a solid choice for co-op FPS enthusiasts.

Madden NFL 25

Step On The Field With PS5 And PC Players

While not a guaranteed feature, modern sports titles often include crossplay support due to the reliance on their online components. With the partnership with EA Play, Xbox Game Pass boasts several cross-platform sports games. However, some exceptions exist. For example, EA Sports FC 24 and NHL 24 support crossplay, while UFC 5 does not.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6

PvP Multiplayer And PvE Co-Op Both Support Crossplay

The annual release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 comes with high expectations. Despite the franchise’s past successes, the previous installment, Modern Warfare 3, faced significant criticism, notably for its single-player campaign. Even the popular Zombies mode struggled, deviating too much from the traditional wave-based format. Consequently, Black Ops 6 aims to attract players back, hoping for a return to form.

In an interesting development, the game launched directly on Game Pass, offering a chance for lapsed players to experience the franchise again without committing financially to a new title. To appeal to both returning players and newcomers, BO6 features a substantial single-player campaign that recalls the series’ iconic storytelling.

While the narrative is strong, the game’s legacy will ultimately hinge on its multiplayer modes, including PvP and Zombies. Crossplay is fully integrated, enabling players from various platforms to team up or face off against one another–a significant feature for the revamped Zombies mode that incorporates elements from Black Ops Cold War, a welcome return to form. Overall, BO6 ranks among the franchise’s standout titles, serving as an excellent reintroduction to new players.

Moving Out 2

A Party Without Restrictions

Moving houses is traditionally a tedious and stressful process, making it an ideal premise for a video game. Moving Out demonstrated that even mundane tasks can be entertaining with creativity and co-op elements. The first entry from 2020 was a whimsical physics-based simulation, challenging players to run a quirky moving company. Moving Out 2 builds upon that success with absurd scenarios that are even more entertaining.

This sequel introduces a multiverse concept, taking players on an adventure across dimensions while maintaining the central focus on puzzle-solving–players must figure out how to transport items without damaging them, a task which demands effective communication. While single-player mode is available, the game is best enjoyed with friends, and crossplay support ensures easy coordination among different platforms.

Diablo 4

An Action RPG That Is Far Better When Played With Friends

Despite a turbulent post-launch period, Diablo 4 remains a noteworthy title, boasting an engaging single-player campaign that provides hours of entertainment. While it doesn’t prioritize storytelling, players will spend most of their time engaged in the grind for loot, an aspect that has garnered mixed feedback.

As a co-op experience, Diablo 4 shines with its extensive cross-platform capabilities. Although tailored for multiplayer interactions, the game has faced issues, such as missing global chat features. Nonetheless, the synergy between different character classes allows for a rich cooperative experience. Since its launch, Blizzard has made significant improvements with updates, even launching expansions and regular free updates to enhance the base game.

MLB The Show 24

Baseball Sim With A Strong Online Component

Renowned as the premier baseball series, MLB The Show consistently delivers a realistic yet accessible experience that captures the spirit of the sport. While MLB The Show 24 may not be the series’ most acclaimed entry, it still features high production values and gameplay modes that engage players for extended periods.

Single-player experiences, such as Road to the Show and Franchise mode, provide distinct challenges. The game also fully supports cross progression. In today’s landscape, online features are essential, and MLB The Show 24 offers this through Diamond Dynasty, a mode revolving around collectible cards.

Mortal Kombat 11

Launched in 2019, Mortal Kombat 11 has enjoyed lasting popularity, despite criticism regarding its monetization. The gameplay emphasizes strategy, requiring players to engage thoughtfully in battles. While it may not be at its peak currently, MK11 still boasts a viable multiplayer community.

Given its availability on both Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus Extra, Mortal Kombat 11 enables players from both platforms to battle each other, although limited to same-generation hardware. While crossplay is enabled on PlayStation and Xbox, Xbox users can also face off against PC gamers on the Microsoft Store.

Sea Of Thieves

The Ultimate Swashbuckling Co-Op (Or PvP) Fun

Since its rocky launch in 2018, Rare’s Sea of Thieves has captured a dedicated audience due to its expansive sandbox structure and regular updates. Although the game also accommodates solo players, co-op gameplay is highly encouraged, allowing players to create crews for a true pirate experience.

As an always-online multiplayer game, Sea of Thieves benefits from crossplay features, fostering a unified community across platforms. Those playing with controllers may find PvP experiences unbalanced against keyboard and mouse users, but the feature is beneficial for friends on different systems to collaborate.

F1 24

Mixed Bag Multiplayer That Has Its Moments

Codemasters’ F1 series has established a solid reputation, with F1 24 possibly being the best entry since its acquisition by EA. The game caters to newcomers and experienced players alike, offering enjoyable solo experiences with MyTeam and career modes focusing on real-world drivers.

Although online races primarily revolve around ranked play, casual options do exist. Unfortunately, F1 24‘s multiplayer modes can offer inconsistent experiences, making it wise for novices to begin with single-player before entering online competition. Nevertheless, the game supports crossplay.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2

Fun & Accessible Fighting Game For Kids & Adults Alike

With its competitive nature, Super Smash Bros. often casts a large shadow over other platform fighters, making it difficult for new contenders to carve their niche. However, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 successfully addresses the shortcomings of its predecessor, delivering a well-rounded experience.

Building upon its predecessor, the sequel boasts a diverse character roster and various gameplay modes, including a single-player campaign featuring roguelike mechanics. Timely humorous and filled with easter eggs, the campaign serves as an excellent introduction to the game while providing entertainment for a few hours. The multiplayer options, supporting up to four players in different match types, keep the gameplay lively and invigorating.

Dead By Daylight

A Frequently Updated Asymmetrical Horror Game With A Dedicated Fanbase

After several expansions featuring iconic horror characters, Dead by Daylight has solidified its place as the most popular asymmetrical survival horror game. Integrating cross-platform capabilities on consoles and PC in 2020 significantly enhanced its longevity.

In this game, four survivors strive to fix generators and escape while one killer seeks to eliminate them. Each character has unique abilities and weaknesses, and while matches can become repetitive, the vast array of characters can provide players with ample variety.

Grounded

A Sandbox Survival Game Designed To Be Played With Friends

Emerging from early access, Obsidian’s Grounded allows players to enter a backyard world at ant-sized proportions, facing perils unlike any other survival game. While it can be enjoyed solo, the game shines with cooperative play, facilitating online teamwork for up to four players.

Among Us

Survive Or Kill

Among Us continues to hold its status as a leading multiplayer title, attributed to memes and its accessible nature, along with crossplay compatibility. Players assume roles on a spaceship, with the majority as Crew members and a select few as Impostors who aim to eliminate their peers.

Chivalry 2

Large-Scale Medieval Warfare

Torn Banner Studio’s Chivalry 2 encapsulates the chaos of medieval warfare, enabling up to 64 players to engage in grand battles and complete objectives. It features three factions and while newcomer-friendly, it presents a steep learning curve that can frustrate less experienced players.

As the game requires a sizable player base to enjoy, it’s logical that crossplay is supported–allowing Xbox Game Pass players to partake with those on PlayStation or PC.

Deathloop

Fun Twist On PvP

Though Deathloop may have seen a decline in its prominent status since its 2021 release, it remains unique in its multiplayer approach. Players embody the assassin Colt, who must eliminate eight targets in one day while navigating a time loop that resets the day upon failure. The game invites strategic learning and adaptation through repeated attempts.

Remnant: From The Ashes

A Third-Person Shooter Soulslike That Is All About 3-Player Co-Op

Game Pass hosts both Remnant titles, but the 2023 sequel does not offer crossplay. Solo players or groups of Xbox users are better off with Remnant 2, thanks to improvements in gameplay mechanics and class flexibility. However, for those wanting to play across platforms, Remnant: From the Ashes still delivers an enjoyable experience with its blend of Souls-like mechanics and third-person shooting.

Space Engineers

Share A Space Sandbox & Get Building

Space Engineers facilitates crossplay between Xbox and PC, allowing collaboration in a sandbox universe filled with building and crafting opportunities. Although it offers limited direction initially, players who master the basics can easily lose themselves in this expansive environment.

Newcomers should begin with solo gameplay to learn controls but can later engage in the active multiplayer community for collaborative sessions.

For Honor

Epic Warfare Between Epic Classes

Despite its mid-2017 launch, For Honor has transcended initial expectations, sustaining a dedicated player base interested in the unique conflict between knights, samurai, and vikings. While the learning curve is sharp, beginners can utilize tutorials and AI battles to acclimate.

The game thrives on its online capabilities, although entering battles without fundamental mechanics forms can be overwhelming. With its emphasis on teamwork, tactical engagement, and deep combat mechanics, For Honor offers profound depth despite its complexities.

Deep Rock Galactic

A cooperative adventure game, Deep Rock Galactic features player-controlled dwarves who undertake high-stakes cave mining missions, battling insects along the way. Instead of a narrative focus, the gameplay is rich with engaging loops that encourage progression across various dwarf classes.

Deep Rock Galactic is a prime crossplay title on Game Pass, providing an enjoyable mix of cooperative elements and gameplay challenges.

Riders Republic

An Open-World Extreme Sports Epic

Ubisoft’s Riders Republic embraces the open-world formula, combining diverse real-world locations into an engaging map brimming with challenges, races, and tricks. Players can specialize in skiing, biking, snowboarding, and wingsuiting, though mastering each discipline unlocks the full experience.

Designed primarily for social interaction, Riders Republic supports crossplay, encouraging 64-player events that keep the competitive community thriving.

Hunt: Showdown 1896

Originally titled Hunt: Showdown, the 2024 upgrade introduces a captivating 1896 setting where players embark on bounty hunts amidst a PvPvE environment. While crossplay allows PS5 and Xbox players to compete, inviting friends across platforms can be tricky.

Special Mention: Genshin Impact

A Free-To-Play Game With A Few Game Pass Benefits

Genshin Impact stands as a prominent free-to-play game that offers some advantages to Game Pass Ultimate users, providing a handful of items to assist in the early stages. Despite being newer to the Xbox ecosystem, the game boasts a wealth of content and multiplayer options.

Genshin Impact combines comprehensive single-player elements with co-op gameplay, enabling four players to gather for quests once the story progresses.
