Destiny Rising Fishing Tips: Baits, Locations, Rewards, and Additional Info

Destiny: Rising provides players with a range of casual activities to engage in between collecting Artifacts and participating in strikes. These include a card game, Sparrow racing, and notably, fishing. Unlike other casual activities, fishing is always accessible and offers various rewards for players.

This guide serves as a comprehensive resource for fishing in Destiny: Rising, detailing how to catch fish, their uses, and how to trade them for loot.

How to Fish in Destiny Rising

Luck be a Harpy tonight.

To start fishing in Destiny: Rising, you will need a fishing rod and bait, both of which are acquired during the introductory quest from Pandora-7. Make your way to any fishing location in Haven, Jiangshi Metro, or Red Sea Rift. These spots are marked on your map as you unlock Fishing Abilities.

Upon reaching a fishing location, select your bait and rod, and you’re ready to begin:

  1. Cast your line and wait for the button to light up yellow.
  2. Press the button to reel in the fish.
  3. If the fish is of grey or blue rarity, it will be hooked instantly. For higher rarity fish, maintain the bar over the fish by clicking continuously. Mythic and above fish will require an extra skill challenge.

The rarity of the fish is influenced by your choice of bait and luck. Using rare baits increases your chances of capturing Legendary and even Mythic fish. The difficulty of catching a fish also varies based on your fishing rod. Higher-tier rods can drain fish stamina more quickly and come with larger catch bars.

How to Sell Fish in Destiny Rising

No reason to keep them.

After catching fish, you can sell them for Angler Tokens. To sell, locate the fish in your inventory and select the Sell option. This will take you to the selling menu where you can choose to sell individual fish or all at once.

How to Acquire Bait and Fishing Rods in Destiny Rising

There’s a weekly limit on how many you can purchase.

Both bait and rods have limited uses and you will need to replenish them periodically to continue fishing. You’ll receive a few as part of the introductory quest and as you advance your Fishing Level, but they won’t suffice long-term. To acquire more, spend Glimmer and Angler Tokens in the Fishing section of the Exchange store.

Complete Fishing Rewards in Destiny Rising

Your Fishing Level unlocks new abilities.

Fishing not only contributes to your weekly activities in relaxed modes (including Iron Bar, Sparrow Racing, and Shadowshaper Duels) but also provides various rewards.

Below are the rewards you can earn through fishing:

  • Fishing Level rewards: Bait, fishing rods, Enhancement Prisms, and Glimmer.
  • Angler Token exchange: Bait, fishing rods, shaders, Artifactual Dust, and meals.

While many of these rewards are intended to enhance future fishing experiences, some unique items are available, such as the Kill This Love weapon shader, which shares a similar color scheme with the Dance of Death skin for Gwynn. Occasionally, you might even reel in a Mythic weapon or two, though the odds are low.
