Mistfall Hunter has passed one million players roughly a week after launch, giving Bellring Games’ dark fantasy extraction ARPG a sizeable opening audience. The milestone comes as the developer prepares its first major post-launch changes based on community feedback.
Mistfall Hunter launched globally on July 30 UTC and was available through Game Pass from day one on PC and Xbox Series X|S. Xbox Cloud Gaming support further expanded its potential audience beyond players purchasing the game outright.
Bellring Games has built Mistfall Hunter around a combination of extraction mechanics, class-based progression and melee-focused action RPG combat. Players enter PvPvE runs to collect equipment and resources while facing both AI-controlled enemies and rival players before attempting to extract with their loot.
Interest in the project had already been building before release. Mistfall Hunter reached the top of both Steam Next Fest’s Trending Upcoming and Top Demos rankings on the opening day of the June event, following several earlier testing periods used by Bellring Games to expand the game’s audience and refine its systems.
That interest carried into launch. Mistfall Hunter passed 44,000 concurrent Steam players during its opening week, while its total audience across available platforms has now exceeded one million.
The early player numbers have been accompanied by a more complicated reception, however. Post-launch feedback has highlighted technical performance, stability and latency among the areas that still require attention. Network performance is particularly significant for a PvPvE title where timing and responsiveness can directly influence encounters between players.
Bellring Games is already incorporating some of that feedback into Mistfall Hunter’s Season 1 roadmap. One of the biggest confirmed additions is a dedicated Solo Mode for Brandrgarde on both Normal and Cataclysm difficulties, currently scheduled for the middle of Season 1 in September.
A separate solo queue could have a meaningful impact on Mistfall Hunter’s matchmaking. Players can already enter parts of the game without a team, but a dedicated mode will provide an environment built specifically around individual players rather than placing them in the same ecosystem as organized groups.
The developer is also continuing to address stability, latency and performance while rolling out additional challenges and seasonal content. Further updates are expected to expand progression and introduce more activities as the game’s live-service structure develops.
Passing one million players gives Mistfall Hunter a substantial starting point, but retention will now become the more important metric. Extraction games built around seasonal progression depend on maintaining an active population well beyond their initial release window.
September’s Solo Mode will therefore be one of the first major tests of Bellring Games’ post-launch strategy and an early indication of whether Mistfall Hunter can convert its strong initial reach into a sustainable player base.
