Like other games in the soulslike genre, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers provides players with various endings based on their decisions throughout the game. The outcome can vary significantly, leading to either a positive or negative conclusion for the protagonist’s journey.
In addition to the standard endings, the game has a Secret ending and a True ending. Achieving the True ending involves completing multiple questlines from NPCs and confronting some of the toughest secret bosses in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers. This guide will outline how to navigate the different endings and the key dialogue choices required during your gameplay.
Achieving the Successor of the Bo Ending
The Early Secret Ending
Reaching the secret ending is straightforward, although the bosses encountered may pose a challenge. For this ending, players need to interact with the Red-Clad Lady at three separate points before reaching the point of no return. Your first encounter with her occurs near the scaffolding area beneath the Buddha Cliffs Shrine after your initial combat tutorial against Bai Kru.
After speaking with her, proceed through the area until you reach Doomwillow Beach, where she can be found next to a pulsating tree after defeating the Corpse Tree.
Following your two interactions, continue the game until you arrive at Mt. Zhenwu. From there, head to the Avian Dwelling Shrine, accessed by descending the ladder beside the bridge in the Refugee Camp. Find the Red-Clad Lady next to the Avian Dwelling Shrine and choose the «Agree» dialogue option.
Upon reaching the fourth region and after the point of no return, you will encounter the Storyteller again, who will ask you to handle Bo Magus. At this juncture, select the «Refuse to Help» option. The game will give you a final chance to reconsider, but you must choose «Refuse» again, thereby locking you into the Successor of the Bo ending. You will then need to defeat Bo Magus, reachable through the Tang Emperor Palace. Once the boss battle concludes, the final cutscene will play, completing your journey.
This ending uniquely skips the fifth region, known as Bo Capital, along with all associated boss fights and questlines.
Achieving the Jarful of Medicine Ending
The Bad Ending
The Jarful of Medicine ending is the easiest to attain, as it primarily hinges on one important dialogue choice. After progressing through the fourth region titled Worship’s Rise in Ruins, you will enter the Reverant Temple. Head upstairs, taking the route leading toward the Burning Cavern. While advancing along this path, you will encounter Xuanyangzi, seated next to a tree beside the Shrine. Speak to him, and you will be presented with two dialogue choices. Choosing the «Hand over the Jade Feather Chisel» option ensures this ending.
After this dialogue, continue advancing until you reach the fifth and final region. From the Shrine, turn around and descend the path towards an elevator. Once you enter the large area with a glowing white tree, you will need to obtain two halves of the Soulbird Shards. Using these shards will create a bridge to the final boss arena. Defeat the final boss and interact with the gate to activate the concluding cutscene.
Achieving the Bound by Fate’s Threads Ending
The Good Ending
The Bound by Fate’s Threads ending closely resembles the bad ending but differs during the interaction with Xuanyangzi at the Burning Cavern Shrine. Players need to select the «Remain Silent» option. Following this, continue down the same path and interact with the gate after the final boss battle to trigger the good ending.
Achieving the Dream’s Sweet Deceit Ending
The True Ending
The Dream’s Sweet Deceit represents the most intricate ending in the game, largely due to the numerous NPC questlines involved, requiring players to ensure they don’t overlook any interactions to achieve it. A practical approach is to check the Fast Travel menu for gray icons representing NPCs next to shrines. Identifying these means it’s time to speak with these previously unactivated NPCs. If players regularly check the travel menu after defeating each boss, obtaining this ending won’t be excessively challenging.
The primary NPCs tied to the True Ending are Fang Yao, who appears in the final section of Cloudspire; He Youzai, who can be engaged with right after the tutorial fight; and the White-Robed Elder, found within the Shu Sanctum on the first floor. Various interactions with these characters will occur throughout the game, and in several, they may seek your assistance, where your reply should consistently be to Agree.
Upon completing all essential NPC interactions leading up to the Reverant Temple in the fourth region, proceed left from the Shrine and follow these steps for the True Ending:
- Speak with Fang Yao to receive the Ring of Samsara – Cause.
- Engage with He Youzai to receive the Ring of Samsara – Effect.
- With both rings in your inventory, approach Xuanyangzi and select the «Remain Silent» option.
- Do not consume either of the rings for Red Mercury under any circumstances.
- Continue to the game’s final region.
- After engaging with the Shrine, head towards the Tomb area in Mt. Zhenwu for your last interaction with the White-Robed Elder.
- Subsequently, go to the Depths of the Capital Shrine in Bo Capital. Here, you’ll encounter the third riddle door–interact and choose «The wheel turns anew».
- This action will transport you to the Shrine Dwelling region. Defeat the Demon of Obsession boss located in the area ahead.
- After winning the battle, advance and interact with the altar at the end to reform the Causality Key.
Once in possession of the key, make your way to the final boss arena and defeat the final adversary. Afterward, interact with the gate to trigger the game’s true ending.
For players aiming to unlock all endings within a single playthrough, it is crucial to complete all significant NPC quests and save your progress after reaching the fourth region yet before speaking with the Storyteller. This strategical save will alleviate the need for multiple playthroughs to obtain all trophies associated with the endings.
Additionally, if you possess the Ring of Samsara, you can still unlock both the good and true endings. Just ensure to save your progress immediately after defeating the final boss–but refrain from interacting with the gate before this save is complete. If pursuing the true ending, ensure that the Causality Key is in your inventory when approaching the gate, and consume the key if you wish for the good ending.
