Top Traits to Enhance in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Upon encountering the Attributes menu in Clair Obscur, I felt compelled to assign different Attributes to each character. Entering Expedition 33, I assumed a team structure would be essential–consisting of a tank, a fast attacker, a healer, and a character focused on critical damage. While this approach isn’t entirely accurate, it serves as an effective starting point.

Here are the key Attributes to prioritize in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Key Attributes to Upgrade in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

No need to assign specific roles to your team members.

Regardless of the difficulty level you choose, the first step is to identify each character’s strengths. From there, you can select Abilities, Pictos, and weapons that best leverage their main statistics. The objective is to connect each character’s highest Attribute effectively to maximize damage output before the enemy can retaliate.

The least critical Attribute to enhance is Defense. You can largely disregard this aspect. Instead, focus on boosting Vitality in the early stages while enhancing Agility, the most vital Statistic in Clair, to ensure your team acts first. Thus, the prime Attributes to develop early on are Vitality and Agility.

Optimal Attributes for Gustave

The inventor.

Gustave serves as the primary tank within Clair Obscur, emphasizing physical damage. His Overcharge ability is tremendously beneficial, although it may take longer to reach peak effectiveness compared to his female counterparts. As for Attributes, prioritize Agility and Might.

While Gustave may not always be the primary target in battles, he can effectively serve as a last-resort character if needed. Alternatively, you can focus on bolstering his Defense at the cost of some Vitality, perfecting your dodging and parrying skills to capitalize on delivering consecutive hits.

Optimal Attributes for Maelle

The soldier.

Maelle displays a strategic depth within her abilities, demanding precise positioning. It’s important to strategize with her character, enabling others in the party to Mark or Burn enemies, thereby enhancing her damage potential.

Depending on the stance you select, aim for high Luck and Agility for Maelle. The essential strategy is to ensure she acts as frequently as possible to secure an upper hand in turns and limit the enemy’s chances to counter.

Optimal Attributes for Lune

The healer.

Lune is the team’s dedicated healer, who I firmly believe is indispensable. Being the team’s backbone, she can heal herself and allies while applying elemental damage against enemies vulnerable to specific elements.

Lune can effectively support Maelle and Gustave by marking or burning opponents. Hence, we advise focusing on increasing her Might and Luck.

Optimal Attributes for Sciel

The powerhouse.

Sciel wields immense power, although her weapon selection may occasionally hinder her performance. I’ve noticed that she often becomes the main target during battles.

This realization leads me to conclude that having a specific tank isn’t always the best strategy unless you plan to keep them until the end of particularly challenging confrontations. Nevertheless, boosting Sciel’s strength by enhancing her Might and Luck is advantageous.

Optimal Attributes for Verso

The enigmatic figure.

As Verso joins the squad in Act II, we recommend focusing on his Vitality and Might. Other team members should possess higher Agility to make a notable impact during fights, while Verso should concentrate on enhancing his damage output.

Since weapons scale with Might, it’s crucial for Verso to cultivate a high Might level, particularly if his weapon reduces health significantly. Don’t forget to also increase his Agility so that he can avoid consecutive enemy attacks.

Optimal Attributes for Monoco

The enforcer.

Monoco blends aspects of both Lune and Gustave, making Agility and Might essential Attributes. He should focus on attacking frequently, applying Marks, and dealing significant damage while also prioritizing dodging enemy strikes.

Like Gustave, Monoco needs to endure attacks to build his strength. Dodging is typically a safer option than parrying unless you have mastered the combat mechanics. Monoco can also benefit from consecutive turns, so investing in Agility is critical to maximizing damage output before having to switch to defensive actions.
