Farming Tier 5 Gear During the 2025 Solstice Event in Destiny 2

Solstice marks the first event following the release of The Edge of Fate expansion in Destiny 2. This year’s iteration introduces notable changes in gameplay and loot, aligning with the new gear tiering system.

Below is a comprehensive overview of the Solstice in Destiny 2 for 2025, detailing all the available loot and the process to obtain Tier 5 versions.

Duration of Solstice 2025 in Destiny 2

Don’t forget to check in with Eva at the Tower.

The 2025 Solstice event will be shorter than previous years, lasting for two weeks from August 5 to August 19. On a positive note, acquiring weapons and armor is more straightforward than ever, as all items can be found on the event page within the Portal. This includes accessing the Solstice Forge for armor unlocking and kindling.

Obtaining Solstice 2025 Gear in Destiny 2

Caldera remains a fan favorite.

This year’s event replaces the Bonfire Bash activity, allowing players to obtain Solstice gear by participating in Portal activities that reward a Distorted Solstice Engram. These activities change daily, so it’s essential to monitor which ones provide Solstice rewards for optimal loot collection. The most efficient activities to farm are Solo Ops, like Caldera, with runs taking about five to six minutes compared to the longer Fireteam Ops missions.

A rank

To achieve an A rank, eliminate enough adds (progress should reach the bonus section) and complete the mission within the time limit. In Solo Ops, be sure to also fulfill the bonus objective.

Loot during Solstice 2025 is notably generous. While the quality of rewards still hinges on your Power level and Guardian Rank, drops are consistently one Tier higher than those from standard Portal activities. At Power levels between 300-320, Solstice gear typically drops at Tier 4, with rare instances of Tier 5 drops. For players above 400 Power, rewards will drop at Tier 5, provided you achieve the A rank in the specific activity.

Weapons

Landing god rolls with double and triple perks is easier this year.

Three weapons are featured in Solstice 2025: the Yeartide Apex Solar submachine gun, the Festival Flight Strand Area-Denial grenade launcher, and the Fortunate Star Void bow. All of these weapons are available from the outset as part of the Distorted Solstice Engram’s loot pool.

The Tier 5 versions of these weapons are highly sought after, and players can also find Holofoil versions that come with a distinctive ornament resembling a beach with animated waves.

Armor

This year’s armor differs from the Eververse sets.

Initially, armor is not included in the Distorted Solstice Engram loot pool. To unlock armor pieces, players must complete activities and collect Solstice Alloy. In the Solstice Forge, each piece of armor can be unlocked for 100 Solstice Alloy, with the signature Solstice glow available for an additional 50 Solstice Alloy.

Once a piece of armor is unlocked, it will be added to the loot pool. This means that to farm god rolls for event weapons such as Yeartide Apex and Festival Flight, players should delay unlocking armor right away.
