To kick off the quest, teleport to Leyawiin and head to the Mage’s Guild. You can join the guild by speaking to Dagail, but for this quest, explore the guild’s rooms until you find a Khajiit named S’drassa. He will mention his search for crystals called Garridan’s Tears and request your help in finding them, thereby officially starting the quest. Engage with him once more, and he will send you to Julian Fanish at the Arcane University in the Imperial City for additional information about the Tears.

Fast travel to the Arcane University and talk to Julian, who will provide extensive information about the Tears. She’ll recommend visiting the First Edition bookstore in the Market District to find a book called Knightfall. After acquiring and reading it, you will learn about Refined Frost Salts, which Julian conveniently sells. Purchase every available quantity before heading to Bruma. From Bruma, ride southeast on horseback until you arrive at Frostfire Glade. Once inside, combat any enemies you encounter as you advance toward the inner gate.
