What Is A Chronicled Wish In Genshin Impact?

The Chronicled Wish banner in Genshin Impact combines elements from both the Character Limited banner and the Weapon banner. Here is a brief overview of its mechanics:

  • To participate in the Chronicled Wish banner, you need to utilize Intertwined Fate.
  • You can select either a character or a weapon available in the banner.
  • You are guaranteed to receive your chosen character or weapon on the second 5-star pull, while the first pull has a 50% chance of yielding your desired item.
  • The guarantee for a 5-star drop is at 90 pulls, irrespective of whether it is a character or weapon.
  • Should you select a character for your guaranteed drop, a loss will result in a different character. Conversely, if you choose a weapon, a loss will yield a different weapon.

This system allows for a clearer path to acquiring specific characters or weapons through a defined selection process:

  1. Choose between available characters or weapons.
  2. Continue pulling until obtaining a 5-star item.
  3. There’s a 50% chance of receiving the preferred 5-star item. A loss means your next item will either be a character or weapon corresponding to your choice.
  4. After a loss, you receive one Fate point, unlike the Weapon banner where you require three 5-stars for a guarantee, the Chronicled Wish only needs two 5-stars for its guarantee. Hence, your next 5-star will be the chosen item.
  5. Once you secure the desired 5-star or change your choice, the Fate point will be forfeited.

Does Chronicled Wish Pity Carry Over In Genshin Impact?

Similar to the Weapon banner, the wish count carries over normally, meaning the pity count continues, but the Fate Points from the Chronicled Wish do not transfer over.

An Example Of The Chronicled Wish System

For instance, if you set Shenhe as your 5-star guarantee, receiving any 5-star weapon from this banner is not possible. After using your Intertwined Fate, you pull a 5-star but get Ganyu instead of Shenhe.

Since you didn’t win your 50% chance, you earn one Fate Point. Now, you can continue pulling until you secure another 5-star and will be ensured to get Shenhe on your next drop.

However, should you cease pulling and the Chronicled Wish banner concludes, your Fate Point will be lost. For example, after obtaining Ganyu and losing your 50%, if you pull 50 times and deplete your Primogems, once the Chronicled Wish banner is over, your odds revert to 50/50 when selecting a new 5-star guarantee. But you maintain your 50th draw for the pity count, needing only 40 more pulls to attain the 90th wish guarantee.

Is Chronicled Wish Permanent In Genshin Impact?

The Chronicled Wish debuted in Genshin Impact version 4.5. However, the subsequent Chronicled Wish will not occur until much later in version 5.3, with another installment in version 5.6. This indicates that the Chronicled Wish is not a regular event but appears intermittently.

At its launch, the Chronicled Wish had specific criteria for its featured characters:

  • Only exclusive 5-star characters that have appeared in a Character Limited banner at least three times, yet have not been featured in any recent Character Limited banner, will be included in the Chronicled Wish.
  • Characters featured in the Chronicled Wish may still appear in future reruns or further Chronicled Wish cycles.

However, the developers have since relaxed criteria to accommodate the introduction of highly requested characters like Shenhe.
