We spoke with T1’s top laner, Choi «Doran» Hyeon-joon, to understand how they excel under pressure.
«When we participate in international tournaments, they happen within a condensed timeframe. Thus, accurately gauging the current meta is crucial,» Doran remarked in an interview. «I believe our team excels at creating a strong tier list that aligns with our strengths.»
Grasping League’s constantly evolving meta is vital for outsmarting opponents in drafts, and T1’s coaching staff seems to grasp this well. Further complicating matters are Fearless Drafts, which also challenge players’ champion versatility in high-stakes situations. T1’s mechanically talented roster performs their best when they can utilize their preferred champions in crucial matches.
Despite recent difficulties in the domestic league, T1 remains one of the most successful teams in the League of Legends scene globally. They have celebrated victories at five World Championships and two MSI events and routinely make it to the playoffs, asserting their legacy.
In MSI 2025, T1 fell short against Gen.G, losing 3-2 in a decisive match, with Gen.G coming off an impressive 18-0 record in the LCK Spring Split. T1 will next face Anybody’s Legends in the tournament, aiming for another chance at a Korean rematch and potentially preventing Gen.G from securing consecutive MSI titles.
