Horadric Spells are an innovative feature introduced in Diablo 4 Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim. Although categorized as spells, these abilities can be utilized effectively across all classes, even those that aren’t primarily intelligence-based, offering diverse options for character builds.
These spells are highly customizable, allowing players to select not only the spell itself but also the elemental damage it inflicts and various modifiers to differentiate their spell. While engaging with Horadric Spells isn’t mandatory, they can significantly enhance a character’s strength. Below is a guide on how to unlock and effectively use all Horadric Spells.
How to Unlock All Horadric Spells in Diablo 4
To access Horadric Spells along with their corresponding Infusors, players must complete the seasonal questline. Accumulating Horadric Knowledge is essential to unlock these quests. Although finishing the full questline isn’t necessary to obtain all the spells, players must complete initial quests to progress. It’s advisable to participate in activities that yield high amounts of Horadric Knowledge early in the season. There are five Horadric Spells and Infusors to unlock, tied to specific quests as detailed below:
- Start a seasonal character – Celestial Surge & Thunderous Particle
- Complete «Bearing the Weight of Ghosts» – Astral Pillar & Corrosive Vapor
- Complete «Keepers of the Glen» – Disintegrate & Glacial Nimbus
- Complete «To Walk Where Spirits Tread» – Propulsion & Smoldering Ember
- Complete «The Unseeable Demands Their Gaze» – Cosmic Anomaly & Nebulous Extract
How to Equip & Use Horadric Spells in Diablo 4
Horadric Spells can be equipped immediately upon starting a new seasonal character, provided you have at least one active skill on your hotbar. These spells integrate seamlessly, enhancing your existing skills rather than acting as stand-alone spells. To begin, open your inventory and navigate to the Horadric Spell menu.
In this menu, select one spell along with one infusor to create your customized spell combination. Following that, you must assign the spell to a button linked to a skill already on your hotbar. Consequently, anytime you utilize your primary skill, the Horadric Spell will activate simultaneously. To trigger the Horadric Spell, you need to hit an enemy with a damaging spell; if you miss, it will not activate.
It’s important to note that each Horadric Spell has its own cooldown period. During this time, your regular skill continues to function as usual, and the Horadric Spell will not trigger. There is no visible countdown to indicate cooldowns, but you can tell when your Horadric Spell is ready to cast because your assigned skill will display a purple background, which also reflects cooldown information in the menu.
Horadric Spells are free to use and won’t alter your build, making it advantageous to equip one whenever possible.
