Utilizing Highlight Moves in Persona 5 Phantom X

In Persona 5 Phantom X, each Phantom Thief’s Persona comes equipped with various skills that can be developed as they level up. Beyond the standard abilities that can be utilized at any moment during battles, every character possesses a Highlight Attack–an intense super move that can be activated after a certain number of turns.

Highlight Attacks bear similarity to Showtime Attacks from Persona 5 Royal, but players have more control over how to charge and activate them. Each character boasts a unique Highlight Attack that contributes more than just damage. Below is a guide on how to charge and use Highlight Attacks in Persona 5 Phantom X.

Charging Highlight Attacks in Persona 5 X

To charge Highlight Attacks, players must engage enemies during battles or utilize their Personas in various actions. The amount of energy available for a Highlight Attack is signified by a yellow star located at the bottom right corner of the screen, with a capacity to reach 100%. Attacking a Shadow’s weakness or defeating one will expedite the charging process; typically, you can charge to full capacity within two to three turns as long as all party members are alive and actively participating.

Keep in mind that your Highlight energy can only reach a maximum of 100%, so utilize it as soon as it becomes available to avoid wasting energy.

Utilizing Highlight Attacks in Persona 5 X

You can activate Highlight Attacks only when your energy has reached 100%. When this occurs, yellow icons representing each character in your party will emerge at the bottom of the screen, indicating an «Action» option above their heads. Upon selecting a character’s Highlight Attack, you can choose the target enemy for the attack.

Choosing the character first reveals the details of the attack in the bottom left corner, allowing you to decide whether or not to use it and where to direct it. Highlight Attacks can be executed out of turn, enabling any character to perform such an attack during the player’s turn. Following the Highlight Attack, you can proceed with your regular actions, potentially allowing the same character to attack consecutively if one of the attacks is a Highlight Attack.

Be aware that all Highlight Attacks incur a cooldown period after use, necessitating a strategic approach in selecting which attacks to deploy throughout longer encounters.
