The highly anticipated Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2025 has faced a significant setback with the disqualification of one of its competing teams.
The North American team S8UL Esports has officially been removed from the $3 million MSC 2025 x Esports World Cup due to a violation of tournament regulations involving two pivotal players.
Players Jang «Hoon» Seong-hun (mid laner) and Michael «MobaZane» Cosgun (substituting jungler) from S8UL were found to have breached the tournament’s official guidelines by participating in an event for Honor of Kings, which is a competing mobile MOBA title, as stated by the MSC 2025 Committee.
The committee clarified, «According to the MSC Penalty Index (Section 2, Penalty Index B), any team member involved in an event for a competing game will incur penalties. Competing games are identified as mobile MOBA titles.»
The MSC committee mentioned that they attempted to avoid disqualification by providing S8UL multiple opportunities to withdraw Hoon and MobaZane from the HoK 48HRS RANKING MARATHON event that occurred from June 27 to 28. However, the team chose not to do so.
Consequently, both Hoon and MobaZane were immediately disqualified from MSC 2025. This left S8UL unable to fulfill the tournament’s required minimum roster size, and under the tournament’s regulations, the team is not permitted to make emergency roster adjustments or claim force majeure exemptions.
As a result, Area 77, who came in as the runner-up at the North America Challenger Tournament (NACT) Spring 2025, has been awarded S8UL’s position in MSC 2025.
S8UL had entered the MSC 2025 scene after acquiring the roster of BloodThirstyKings (BTK), which MobaZane led to qualification by winning against Area 77 in the NACT Spring 2025 finals.
MobaZane, a well-known figure in the international MLBB arena, has been a proud representative of North America globally, famously leading BTK to a third-place finish at the M3 tournament–a performance that significantly elevated the profile of NA MLBB. Unfortunately, despite his illustrious background, MobaZane, serving as S8UL’s substitute jungler, will miss this year’s MSC.
The MSC Committee reiterated its commitment to maintaining fair play and upholding competitive integrity standards for Mobile Legends esports.
