The legendary Counter-Strike player s1mple has recently released a tier list of professional players, with VALORANT star TenZ being one of the notable names featured.
In a YouTube video produced by FaZe Clan, s1mple joined teammates karrigan, rain, frozen, and EliGE to create a classic S-to-F tier ranking. Each player selected ten cards representing professional players for s1mple to evaluate, leading to some interesting discussions.
Rain’s selection of TenZ was particularly noteworthy, considering TenZ is mainly recognized for his VALORANT achievements and has transitioned away from competitive Counter-Strike. S1mple ranked him between C and D tier, initially placing him above stewie2k, a Major and Intel Grand Slam victor.
«You’re putting him high up there,» EliGE remarked in surprise. «Higher than stewie?» added rain, as the rest of the group joined in the banter. «Stewie died for this?» joked frozen.
S1mple adjusted stewie2k’s position to C-tier, just above TenZ, but later altered his rankings again when considering coldzera, eventually positioning stewie beneath TenZ. «Oh, you just moved stewie down. So he ended up below TenZ anyway,» karrigan laughed.
While some may view this as a controversial assessment, s1mple grounded his decision in clear reasoning. He emphasized that the rankings were based on current performance, stating that TenZ’s exceptional aim warranted his relatively high position, even surpassing CS legends like olofmeister and cadiaN.
This logic is certainly defendable. TenZ has cultivated a strong reputation in VALORANT for his accuracy and mechanical skills. Additionally, he still occasionally streams CS2, where he continues to display flashes of the elite-level precision he is known for.
As for the tier list as a whole, s1mple placed his FaZe teammates in the S-tier, alongside prominent players like ZywOo, m0NESY, NiKo, and donk, who he labeled as an «SS-tier» talent. S1mple ranked himself between S and A, acknowledging that he needs to continue improving to reach his peak performance level.
Currently, FaZe and s1mple are competing in the CS2 Austin Major, where they have already secured a playoff position with a strong 3-1 record in Stage 3. S1mple is looking sharp and making plays that reaffirm his status as one of the greatest in Counter-Strike history.
